Our school has a reading room where pupils who have difficulty with reading are given individual assistance. There is also small group instruction in Mathematics.
Teachers are continually assessing pupils’ individual educational needs and achievements in all areas of the curriculum. They work collaboratively to plan programmes of instruction appropriate for each class. Every teacher keeps record of the progress of the children in her class as well as notes on their social and emotional development. We believe that it is important to formally assess children’s knowledge and performance in core subjects: Mathematics, Grammar, Comprehension, Spelling/Vocabulary and Comprehension. Parents are kept up to date about pupils' all-round performance on Parent Day and through term reports.
At San Fernando Girls’ Government School, we strive to include field trips as a learning medium. Each class goes on at least one field trip a term.
Extracurricular and co-curricular are very important to the ethos of the school. These activities provide opportunities for personal development, leadership training, and pleasure. We also celebrate every national occasion and value pupils’ and parents’ input.
